Outdoor living Frankton
Designed around Frankton.
Frankton sits at the heart of the Wakatipu Basin, and it gets the full mix of Queenstown weather: open sun across the Frankton Arm, wind funnelling off the lake and frosty mornings under the Remarkables. Many homes here are newer builds with large decks and north-facing glazing that heat up fast in summer.
At Shade Smart, we design outdoor rooms that work with those conditions — roofs that open for winter sun, blinds that block the lake breeze, and shading that keeps living areas comfortable without losing the view.
Louvre roofs in Frankton
Our Skyline Louvre Roof lets you rotate the blades to follow the sun across the Frankton Arm. Close them for rain or light snow and open them on clear winter days — so your deck works year-round.

Outdoor blinds in Frankton
Wind off Lake Wakatipu is a constant in Frankton. Track-guided and motorised outdoor blinds shelter the sides of your space while mesh fabrics keep the lake and mountain views.

Turn your deck into another room.
A properly designed louvre roof combined with outdoor blinds can turn an exposed deck or patio into a sheltered outdoor living area — somewhere to eat, relax and entertain long after the sun drops behind the Remarkables.

Reviews
Loved by homeowners across New Zealand.
“We had a custom built Louvre system installed over our decking. It was quite complex due to the size and the fact we have solar panels. Special brackets needed to be made and the guys did a great job working it all out. We are extremely happy with the end result. Excellent product that works well and looks fantastic.”
“We highly recommend Shade Smart precision engineering, quality products strong and attractive, first class Company providing attention, care, quality, value for money.”
“The guys were great to deal with, sharp price compared to the competition and the finished louvers came up great.”
“Great product and service, got my outdoor motorised blind working with google homes and has all the smart function with the wifi built-in blinds.”
“Their staff who installed the roof and blinds worked efficiently and professionally at all times. Two minor problems with electronics were solved almost immediately and we could not fault the follow up service.”
“Angus and team helped my parents build a pergola. Very nice and professional, would definitely recommend.”
