Outdoor living Nelson
Designed around Nelson.
Nelson is one of New Zealand's sunniest cities, so outdoor living is a big part of life here. But strong summer sun, high UV and the odd sea breeze mean an uncovered deck can be too hot by midday and too breezy by evening.
At Shade Smart, we design outdoor rooms that let you control the sun. Louvre roofs that tilt for shade or open for warmth, blinds that cut glare and breeze, and every system custom made for your Nelson home.
Louvre roofs Nelson
Tilt the blades to block the midday sun, or open them fully on cooler days. A louvre roof gives Nelson homes precise control over sun and shade.

Outdoor blinds Nelson
Outdoor blinds reduce glare and sea breezes on west-facing decks, and mesh fabrics keep your view of Tasman Bay.

Pergolas Nelson
A Transroof pergola delivers 99% UV protection while keeping your living spaces light — a strong choice for Nelson's high-sunshine climate.

Sun louvres Nelson
For large glazing and contemporary homes, architectural sun louvres reduce heat gain and glare through Nelson's long summers.

Turn your deck into another room.
A properly designed louvre roof combined with outdoor blinds can turn an exposed deck or patio into a sheltered outdoor living area — somewhere to eat, relax and entertain long after the sun drops behind the Remarkables.

Reviews
Loved by homeowners across New Zealand.
“We had a custom built Louvre system installed over our decking. It was quite complex due to the size and the fact we have solar panels. Special brackets needed to be made and the guys did a great job working it all out. We are extremely happy with the end result. Excellent product that works well and looks fantastic.”
“We highly recommend Shade Smart precision engineering, quality products strong and attractive, first class Company providing attention, care, quality, value for money.”
“The guys were great to deal with, sharp price compared to the competition and the finished louvers came up great.”
“Great product and service, got my outdoor motorised blind working with google homes and has all the smart function with the wifi built-in blinds.”
“Their staff who installed the roof and blinds worked efficiently and professionally at all times. Two minor problems with electronics were solved almost immediately and we could not fault the follow up service.”
“Angus and team helped my parents build a pergola. Very nice and professional, would definitely recommend.”
